When I started writing this piece, it was shortly after the story broke. The parents hadn’t been identified and I went forward with the piece solely based on what I saw unfolding from a straight up shaming / accusations standpoint. Although I noticed yesterday that race was being pulled into it, it wasn’t where my mind was at and I don’t think I could’ve spoken intelligently to it being the whitest person living in the whitest state. What’s your take on it?
